With 2022 coming to an end, the promoter of Jeju Dream Tower in Jeju announced plans to bring in more VIP players. Korea's Holiday Island will welcome players from Japan this November and December as part of the casino's new plan. This quarter, the promoter plans to offer two charter flights for VIP players arriving to Jeju from Tokyo's Narita Airport.
Jeju Dream Tower Visitor Increase
On a chartered flight, Jeju Dream Tower will be able to welcome more guests as the end of the year approaches. Lotte Tour Development Inc. told GGRAsia that the first group of tourists will arrive in Jeju on Nov. 4. Guests will only stay two days before returning home.
The second plane will arrive on Dec. 30 and leave on Jan. 3. The charter will be operated by T'way Air Co. Ltd. of Korea. Each plane will be able to carry 189 passengers. In a report, GGRAsia revealed that Jeju Dream Tower will be recruited by junkets and travel agencies for chartered travelers.
All the travelers will stay at the Jeju Dream Tower at the Grand Hyatt Jeju Hotel. It will be interesting to see if this plan can help Jeju casinos see more tourists in the coming months. The property saw its revenue decline due to its second-quarter earnings report, which reported a total gaming revenue of 15.3 billion won ($10.7 million). This was down 17.3 percent from the previous quarter.
Enable travel with visa-free entry
For months, Korea has tried to attract more tourists by providing visa-free entry. The program was launched for passport holders in Japan, Taiwan, and Macau. The goal was to make it easier for travelers to visit.
The program has already been extended in August, and will be available for longer until Oct. 31. The region and other countries in the region are working to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the pandemic first began, strict restrictions were in place to suspend travel to certain areas. Many casinos have been affected by the social nature of the facilities, such as closing for months to avoid pollution.
Now that COVID-19 is under control, areas like Jeju are looking for ways to bring travelers back to casinos. The visa-free scheme will help with overall travel and charter flights will boost revenue, as VIP players will be ready to spend when they arrive at casinos.
