Tottenham Hotspur vice-captain Christian Romero showed his leadership side by scoring the winning goal.
Tottenham won 3-1 against Crystal Palace in the 27th round of the 2023/24 English Premier League (EPL) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on the 3rd (Korea time).
Romero started in the game as a central defender along with Mickey van der Pen. In the build-up situations of the first half, he unusually often made mistakes. He gave up the ball to his opponents in dangerous areas, giving them crucial opportunities.
Although he looked shaky, Romero became a hero when he scored the winning goal against Palace. He scored with a header in the 35th minute of the second half when the score was 1-1. James Maddison, who received a throw from Emerson Royal, lifted the ball high into the penalty box. Romero, who participated in the attack, finished the ball with his head.
Local media also gave Romero favorable reviews. Alex The Gold, a Tottenham reporter from London, said of Romero, "He defended well but almost gave the ball to his opponent with a pass early in the second half. Afterwards, he turned the game upside down by finishing the ball with his head." Gold gave Romero an eight-point rating.
Romero, on loan from Atalanta to Tottenham in the summer of 2021, moved on permanently after playing one season. He is at risk of being sent off for his overly tough defensive style, but his skills have been proven. Romero is fast, has a wide range of defenses, and is on the right side of the build-up. Romero, who was appointed as a vice-captain in support of Son ahead of this season, has scored four goals in 22 official matches in the 2023/24 season.
