It is not user-friendly to ask each user to connect their own storage and in some cases it could go against the objective of taking screenshots in the first place if the user can simply delete all screenshots in one click and the company never had a way to back them up (imagine a disgruntled employee situation).

And this is not a privacy issue as the platform is already collecting and sharing the data and all of your competitors have central storage as well.
