Los Angeles Dodgers Tyler Glass has now shown what the team wants.
Glasnow started the 2024 Major League exhibition game against the Cleveland Guardians at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona on the 2nd (Korea time) and pitched three innings with one walk, five strikeouts and no runs.
This was his second appearance on the mound. Glasnow, who took the mound for the first time in a game against the Los Angeles Angels on April 25, allowed four hits, one walk, one strikeout and one run in the first inning of his ⅔.
Glasnow, who took the mound after a five-day break, showed his presence with a perfect pitch.
In the first inning, Stephen Kwan was struck out swinging, and Jose Ramirez was also struck out swinging. With two outs, Josh Naylor neatly finished the first inning with a grounder to the first base.
He seemed to be shaking as he allowed a walk to Ramon Roriano, the leadoff hitter, in the second inning. However, he stopped Andres Jimenez with a fly ball to center field, Gabriel Arias with a swinging strikeout, and Will Brennan with a grounder to the first base.
He regained stability from the third inning. Glasnow struck out Austin Hedges and David Fry in succession, and ended the inning by turning Kwan on a fly ball to left field.
Glasnow's challenge was three innings. He pitched 47 times. His ERA in exhibition games stood at 1.93.
MLBcom said after the game, "Glass has proven that it can now show a new aspect in LA. He made his debut with the Dodgers last week against the Angels in a shaky manner, but gave up just one walk and struck out five times on the day. He looked perfect."
"Considering his long height, he had a good four-seam, slider and curve (moving like a cutter)," he said, adding, "It was a pitch that showed off Glasgow's talent to the fullest."
The commander also expressed satisfaction.
Manager Dave Roberts laughed and said, "I hit every corner of the zone. I could tell he pitched perfectly clearly."
The Dodgers traded with the Tampa Bay Rays during the off-season. It successfully embraced Glasnow and Manual Margot, who has 30 wins in the Major League. Immediately after, it signed an extension contract worth up to 136.5 million US dollars for five years.
Glasnow has one disadvantage in that he is unable to play full time even for a single season due to injury. He is evaluated as a player who can meet expectations as long as he is healthy. He pitched in 21 games last year and had a career-high season with 10-7 losses and an ERA of 3.53, and recorded 30-27 losses and an ERA of 3.89 in 127 games (88 starts).
