Two gambling places in Oklahoma were evacuated in the middle of an area near the Kansas border. Locals were also evacuated from the spread of the fire.
The affected casinos were two tribal sites: the Native Lights Casino and the 7 Clan First Council Casino Hotel. The two buildings were located near the border with the Sunflower State and had a high risk of being engulfed by fire.
For your information, the two casinos are operated by the Tonkawa Tribe in Oklahoma and the Auto-Misuria Tribe in India, respectively.
Buildings that were alerted to nearby wildfires were evacuated Tuesday evening. Some Chiloco residents were also asked to leave their homes as the blaze was directed directly to the area.
At the time, the wildfires were heading north of Newkirk, a small city in Kay County. The county itself was affected by flames, so much smoke affected local traffic. Initially, the order was later withdrawn because firefighters in two neighboring states were able to get the situation under control.
Firefighters stopped the fire from reaching the casino
At 9 p.m., Kay County emergency management officials released an update on the situation, announcing that firefighters in Oklahoma and Kansas had prevented the fire from advancing and were unable to reach the Native Light Casino and the 7 Clan First Council Casino Hotel.
For your information, the risk of wildfires has been increased at first due to unexpected winds.
Kay Country wasn't the only state affected by the ongoing wildfires. As of Tuesday, Oklahoma had 32 fires, causing damage and forest loss. The fires also caused injuries and property damage, according to the report.
Two Oklahoma Casinos That Coped With Cyber Attacks
Fortunately, the two casinos in northern Oklahoma were unaffected thanks to the hard work of firefighters. Damage to both buildings could have added to the concerns of local tribal organizations in the wake of recent cybersecurity incidents.
FYI, two of Oklahoma's Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma properties had data security incidents in December, namely the Indigo Sky Casino and the Resorts and the Opstop Casino. Both properties advised customers to protect their identity, warning them that their data may have been compromised.
